JurongHealth Campus Arts&Health Festival 2017

JurongHealth Campus' second Arts&Health Festival, with the theme "Journey", takes participants on a journey of lived experiences, memories and imagination. The highlight of the festival was the opening of "Love Blossoms from a Seed" - a community art exhibition by artist, Ranae Lee-Nasir and eight students from Grace Orchard School for students with mild intellectual disability or autism. Over 30 cheerful paintings depicting garden scapes were created during a four-day art camp. Showcased for the first time at the festival is a series of more than 40 colourful flora prints and murals in the cancer clinic and chemotherapy bay, co-created by artist Mary Bernadette Lee and cancer survivors from the Singapore Cancer Society. "Rise Above" is inspired by the resilience and courage of these survivors. The artworks offer an oasis of calm and messages of hope and optimism to encourage cancer patients. Adding to the festival buzz is a display of 80 shortlisted entriesfor a photo competition with the theme "Journey", as well as two other art exhibitions - “Blossoms Colour of Life” and “Memories“ - featuring nostalgic motifs of good old kampong days depicted on fabric collage and batik paintings at our community art galleries. We were glad to see patients, staff, guests and the community enjoy the colours and cheer it brought to our hospitals!

Nurses' Day 2017 Celebration

It’s double happiness for us as we celebrated yet another good year for our nurses as well as our Chief Nurse, Mdm Kuttiammal Sundarasan’s achievement of the President’s Award for Nurses! We were honoured to have Mr Gan Kim Yong (Minister for Health) and Ms Tan Soh Chin (Chief Nursing Officer), join us in our celebration. JurongHealth Campus just rolled out Workplace by Facebook and for first time, even nurses who could not be at the celebration could watch the performances live on Workplace. The fun continued with fringe activities such as hand spa, tea-making, mug customisation, games and a photo booth. A mobile coffee truck was also on site to serve hot drinks to our nurses, which were pre-ordered by colleagues, patients and volunteers who wish to show their appreciation to individual nurses. CEO and CMB each bought 188 cups of coffee and served them personally at the coffee truck alongside Health Minister. Thank you, nurses, for your heart work.

Inaugural Nursing Symposium at NTFGH

Close to 300 nursing delegates from various public healthcare institutions, intermediate and long-term care institutions and nursing homes were hosted at our very first JurongHealth Campus Nursing Symposium. The two-day symposium was centred around the theme “Building Capability for Quality and Safety”, and covered a range of topics such as providing quality care, inculcating best practices, patient safety, harnessing IT to improve patient care and work processes, and developing resilience in the nursing career and more. It provided a platform for nurses to gain insights into the latest trends and developments in healthcare practices and facilitated open discussion on the challenges and issues faced. It was an insightful learning session and the knowledge gained will certainly help to challenge standards in providing healthcare to the community.

Healthy Home 2017

More than 200 JurongHealth Campus staff volunteers came all geared up to spring clean the homes of 15 needy elderly residents in the west. The event was all the more meaningful as we created safe and healthy living environments for our patients in time for the Lunar New Year. A team of mobile pharmacists also went from door to door to conduct medication reconciliation to help elderly residents organise their medications. Residents were all smiles when they received much needed necessities and red packets. We also thank our service partners, community partners and the various district town councils for their support. Not forgetting our enthusiastic bunch of JurongHealth Campus volunteers for bringing festive joy to our residents!

From commissioning to defects checking, our nurses donned hard hats and boots and at the same time, took care of our patients back in Alexandra Hospital then. Their dedication and commitment in ensuring our hospital is safe for our patients, visitors and staff, are simply amazing.
